Colombianite is commonly misrepresented as a tektite online. Although much is still unknown about Colombianite, scientifically, there is more evidence that shows it is a form of terrestrial obsidian.

Colombianite is estimated to be about 30 million years old. Most obsidians are "only" able to last for a few million years. This makes Colombianite rare and unique. It is estimated to be more rare than Moldavite, and almost double as old!
