This is a unique specimen of deep blue azurite on matrix from Sidi Ayad, Morocco. Each specimen in our azurite collection has a high sparkle and glimmer.

Azurite is a deep blue mineral with the chemical formula Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2. It is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral, and is a common mineral in the oxidized zone of copper deposits. It is often found in association with other copper minerals such as malachite and chrysocolla.

Azurite is known for its beautiful, deep blue colour, which is caused by the presence of copper in its chemical structure. Azurite has been known and used for centuries. It was used as a pigment in ancient Egypt, and has been found in ancient Chinese and European civilizations.
