This high quality rhodochrosite slab has been polished (in Argentina) on one side. It is left naturally rough on the other side. This specimen of rhodochrosite was mined in Andalgala, Catamarca, Argentina.
Rhodochrosite is a pink to red-coloured mineral that belongs to the carbonate group of minerals. It has a chemical formula of MnCO3 and is often found in the oxidized zones of manganese ore deposits. Rhodochrosite is prized by collectors for its distinctive pink-to-red colour and often forms attractive banded crystal formations.
